Root Canals
No Inflammation Here!
Trauma, deep decay and cracks in teeth may cause the pulp of the tooth to become inflamed or infected. If this inflammation is left untreated it can lead to pain or a dangerous abscess.
The treatment for this condition is a root canal. The procedure involves cleaning out the inflamed tissue and then filling with a sealer.
Some common signs that you may need a root canal include pain or sensitivity while chewing, swelling on the gum tissue, sensitivity to hot or cold, deep decay or darkening of a tooth that has been traumatized.
Most teeth will need a crown after the root canal to protect the tooth from breaking.
